Technical Classes
Our classes offer a consistent body practice, combining technique, awareness, and expressivity. Using methods like release technique, floor work, and contact improvisation, students explore weight, alignment, breathing, articulation, and flow. The focus is on developing technical autonomy, internal listening, and mobility, blending precision and freedom.
Choreographic Laboratory
These laboratories are spaces for contemporary dance research and the creation of original movement language. Through improvisation, movement writing, and visual, textual, or sensory stimuli, participants explore multiple possibilities in choreographic composition. These sessions encourage experimentation, gesture dramaturgy, and development of materials individually or collectively.
Dance Workshop – Body & Awareness
Dance invites us to see the body not just as a form, but as a space for listening, creation, and thought. Gestures transform into living experiences, revealing new ways of feeling and inhabiting the world.
This workshop explores the connection between movement and awareness. Through improvisation, mindfulness, and dialogue between sensitivity and imagination, each participant discovers their unique movement language.
Body & Awareness is an invitation to dance as a form of knowledge — a meeting with yourself, others, and the creative force of the moment.
Teaching Philosophy & Notes
In classes and workshops, Sofia Silva provides tools to help students develop their expressive uniqueness. Exercises guide participants so that dance arises from an internal felt experience, making the body a visible expression of that sensation.
Themes and exercises focus on observation, breathing, alignment, contact with the floor, weight, dynamics, space, time, touch, intensity, impulse, energy, flow, balance and imbalance, activation and slowing down, and movement construction and deconstruction. These elements support both the structure of the body and the art of dance itself.
