Workshop: Introduction to Contemporary Dance
Adults
Location:
ACCCA Studio, Rua dos Caetanos, 26, Lisbon
Dates:
17 Jan | 28 Feb | 21 Mar 2026
Price:
€110 + €6 insurance
17 January 2026
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Focus: Body awareness, breathing and natural alignment
We will begin with breathing and relaxation exercises, preparing the body to move with lightness. We will explore skeletal alignment and weight distribution, using the “bone centre” rather than excessive muscular tension — a core principle of Release Technique.
The floor will be our partner: floor work, soft rolls and conscious transitions, cultivating sensations of gravity, centre and freedom.
28 February 2026
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Focus: Flow, breathing and mobility
Breath and movement will be integrated to create flow and continuity. We will explore joint mobility, rolling, weight transfers, soft falls and recoveries, allowing the body to move fluidly while respecting its anatomy.
Guided improvisation, body awareness and individual expression will be practised, opening space for creativity and autonomy.
21 March 2026
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Focus: Integration, expression and conscious bodily composition
All principles will be integrated: breathing, alignment, relaxation, fluidity and use of the floor. Sequence-based exercises, changes in dynamics, rhythm, space and intention will transform technique into personal expression.
Improvisation, internal imagery and sensitivity will be encouraged, responding to gravity, space and inner impulse. The aim is for each participant to discover their own movement language, with freedom, body awareness and physical integrity.

Technique Classes
The classes propose a consistent physical practice, combining technique, awareness and expressiveness. Through approaches such as release technique, floor work and contact, we explore principles such as weight, alignment, breathing, articulation and flow. The focus is on developing technical autonomy, inner listening and mobility, integrating precision and freedom.
Choreographic Laboratory
The laboratories are dedicated to research in contemporary dance and to the construction of an authorial language. Starting from practical proposals — involving improvisation, movement writing, and visual, textual or sensory stimuli — we investigate different possibilities for choreographic composition. These are spaces to experience the body as poetic language, explore dramaturgies of gesture, and develop material through individual or collective processes.
Notes
When I teach, I aim to provide tools that enable each student to develop their expressive singularity, guiding exercises so that dance emerges from a place deeply felt within the body, and so that this body, when dancing, becomes a visible expression of sensation.
In this sense, I seek to select themes that serve as tools to begin, develop or take risks in dancing. In a transversal and conscious way, and according to the individual and collective characteristics of each group, I work with materials such as observation, breathing, alignment, contact with the floor, weight, dynamics, space, time, intensity, impulse, energy, flow, balance and imbalance, activation and deceleration of the body, construction and deconstruction of movement, among many other materials that structure the body and dance.
